Hollywood Boulevard Closures – FDOT Work

Westbound Hollywood Boulevard to close at I-95

Nighttime Closures Begin September 10

Hollywood – All westbound lanes on Hollywood Boulevard will be closed at I-95 and traffic will be detoured from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m., Sunday nights through Thursday nights, for three weeks, beginning Monday, September 10, for bridge demolition work, Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) officials report. Drivers traveling west on Hollywood Boulevard who want to go south on I-95 and drivers traveling north on I-95 who want to go west on Hollywood Boulevard will also be detoured.

During these closures the following detours will be in use:

  1. Westbound Hollywood Boulevard through traffic and westbound Hollywood Boulevard to southbound I-95 traffic: Drivers will be detoured on to northbound I-95 to Sheridan Street, exit and go west on Sheridan Street to the southbound  I-95 entrance ramp and take I-95 south to exit at Hollywood Boulevard or continue southbound on I-95

  2. Northbound I-95 to westbound Hollywood Boulevard traffic: Drivers will be directed to continue north on I-95 to Sheridan Street, exit and go east on Sheridan Street to the Southbound I-95 entrance ramp and take I-95 south to exit at Hollywood Boulevard

This is one of a series of local street closures for bridge demolition work on I-95 at Hollywood Boulevard and Stirling Road. Upcoming closures include: full weekend closures of Hollywood Boulevard, scheduled for late September 2012; and eastbound and westbound lanes on Stirling Road, scheduled for October 2012. Details about upcoming closures will be available as construction dates are confirmed.

This work is being done as part of the 95 Express Phase 2 Construction Project that will convert the existing High Occupancy Vehicle (HOV) lanes to two express lanes in each direction. Other project-related work includes: installing Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) components; bridge widening; and building noise walls at some locations between Hollywood Boulevard and Taft Street. Construction began in November 2011, will last approximately three years and will cost an estimated $106 million.
